How many hurricanes have you experienced or had to make a call on an evacuation?

Do you own a home in an area that has been impacted by a hurricane?

Exactly.
Lots of posters lacking common sense keep posting the same stupid crap about why didn't they just leave. All it would take was to read a few pages back and see that it’s been explained why several times

People who move to the Bahamas have “boats and cars”. Often it’s their second home. A lot of native folks rely on public transportation and don’t have NEARLY those kinds of resources. This board is laughable sometimes.

We’ve heard from PeeJ and now we have clowns from Wisconsin and Ohio in the thread trolling about how to evacuate for hurricanes from their multiple hurricanes that reach the Midwest. This thread has it all

Then where? Assume you are impoverished, but still have a car. You found out 48 hours before the storm arrived. How do you evacuate from Marsh Harbor?

I would imagine for many of the locals...this is the type of boats they have

You saying they should take that...in rough waters with a hurricane approaching...and leave an island in the middle of the ocean and head to where exactly?

I have a large IQ, so zero.

I just have to dodge the random tornado occasionally.

Regardless, the reasons given for staying in a "life or death" situation are ridiculous.

About as smart as building a city below sea level.

Nobody said it’s easy. I stated it’s selfish to put your children/pets in harms way to avoid inconvenience. I stand by my statement.

ETA: I’m also talking mainland USA, for people like Nurse who make a healthy salary. Not locals in the Bahamas who have no money.

You think the average Bahamian (sp?) can just pick up and fly their entire family somewhere in 2 days? The bubble some of you are in never ceases to amaze me

The first post is a classic example of “feel good posting”.

“Hey, to the people of the Bahamas, Please evacuate immediately for Hurricane Dorian”.

I did so good today helping others! #PatsSelfOnTheBack

I for one look forward to having more people who live in the upper Midwest lecture folks on Hurricane evacuation criteria and capabilities.

In rough waters? You do realize the waters by those islands can get pretty rough long before a hurricane actually hits?

Looks like the eye had shrunk a little as it has wobbled to the northeast. Even with the weakening, it's still an impressive looking storm.
