besides not being able to afford to evacuate pets is like #1 reason people stay and ride it out.

This isn't always so clear. Many people have packed up and spent $$$$ evacuating in what they were told was a life or death situation....and nothing happened.

Makes them hesitate the next time a storm comes around.

I'd say the ones that won't evacuate because of Fluffy are the low IQ individuals.

Then I sadly would still delegate you to the selfish category. So last time nothing happened. This time your children and pets are stuck in a home with no power, a roof that’s beginning to dislodge and no ending in sight. The blame falls on you for not wanting to be inconvenienced.

You clearly have never experienced anything like this and have no idea the mindset of those who have.

I'm not saying I wouldn't evacuate...I'm just saying it's not always so black and white for those that don't.

I have a wife, child, and 2 dogs. I haven't had to evac but I've had to consider the option. If a cat 4 were barreling towards BR .. I'm out. Easy decision. I've considered leaving for a cat 1 just to be safe. Luckily I'm in a financial position to handle that and I know not everyone is, but most people can find a way. We had Rita evacuees live with me for 4 years when I was a teenager.. step family. When there's a serious threat like a hurricane people open their homes and there are evacuation shelters all over the place.

Latest update has the movement listed as stationary, wow. The eye wobble makes it look like it is moving backwards at times.

You think the average Bahamian (sp?) can just pick up and fly their entire family somewhere in 2 days? The bubble some of you are in never ceases to amaze me.
