Just don't be like this guy who was spotted in Florida today putting gas in Home Depot 5-gallon buckets.

That is what I think people are failing to realize at this point. That distance offshore is not much at all, and the NHC's margin of error is more than enough to make up that distance. Hopefully, the eastward trend continues.
Either way, it appears one of the major impacts of this storm will be in the northern Bahamas. It will rake them for the better part of two days with little weakening.

Model consensus definitely seems to be trending toward the center staying offshore.

Hi, yes, and that is reassuring, but it is still several days off. The error margin is 200 miles five days out, I believe. If you look at the Navy site
LINK https://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/TC.html
And then click on the smaller image of the track you can get a good idea of potential area.
PS I hope the darn thing veers way east

seems better than 50% of EPS members are keeping it offshore now as well. GEFS seems much more focused on the coastal/just inland Florida routes.

this isn't to say anyone's out of the woods though.. just an interesting trend. this turn is still a ways out and tough to predict at this point.

Technically the forecast track crosses over Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

This is just NE of the Port Canaveral Cruise Port for those of you who have taken a cruise out of there.

People put gas in worse containers before we were forced to use those govt mandated shite cans and we all survived.

if it takes that path there's a good chance it continues hooking out to sea. At least the loss of life/property will be minimal, but it'll still be a coastal erosion nightmare

but that's a long way out, not a forecast.

This storm seems like the perfect setup for mass public outrage regardless of what happens. The evacuation orders have been non-existent other than Broward. So we either have a mass panic and late evacuation with people sitting on interstates in the storm or we have a bunch of people pissed off that they evacuate for no reason. Would not want to be making the call for this storm.

I'd be fine with it

if you're on the coast north of Miami, get out. Easy. People can whine all they want, at least they're alive to whine.
