Fight or Flight. He fought.

I would've died right there.

I wonder who in the world figured out that sticking your arm down a bear's through was the way to go?

Hunted that same area myself, never saw a bear, thank goodness. Ballsy move dude

I was in this area last month. No lions, but I did see s big arse mountain lion at a distance. Spoke to a local who shot one in his house last year after it barged in after his dog.

some poor trapper years ago who didn't have a gun or a knife, bullets, or even a stick. Self preservation is wonderful motivator.

a 1200 pound Kodiak brown bear would have just bitten it off.
A 1,400 pound polar bear would have fricked him with his big bear dick.

So bears have a pretty bad gag reflex, huh? That sucks for all of the male bears out there.
And Twinks too

I did this exact same thing one time, except I carried it one step further. I ran my arm all the way back to his tail, grabbed it, and in one quick motion jerked the bear wrong side out.

I was 20 years old before I discovered that "wrongsideouterds" was more than one word.

It's a whole different ballgame when what you're hunting can hunt you back. Gotta pay to play.

He was only 3 feet from the bear when he noticed it. He said the grizzly had been sleeping and didn't see him coming, possibly because of the snow, rain and 30 to 40 mph winds.

Dellwo said he only had time to take a few steps back before the bear knocked him off his feet and bit his head.

"He let go, but he was still on top of me roaring the loudest roar I have ever heard," Dellwo said.

The bear then bit Dellwo's leg and shook him, tossing him in the air. As the bear came at the man again, Dellwo recalled a story he read in a magazine.

"I remembered an article that my grandmother gave me a long time ago that said large animals have bad gag reflexes," he said. "So I shoved my right arm down his throat."

The advice worked, and the bear left.

Dellwo rejoined his brother, who drove him to a hospital.

Thank God our mascot isn't a fricking bear. What a pussy animal. Now no human will be scared of them, we've exploited their weakness. They might as well go extinct.

Tigers all damn day! Try and put your arm in Mike's mouth and see what happens

A guy I hunt with owns a forestry service. They were cutting some timber on a hillside that was too steep for the timberjack so they were cutting by hand (with chainsaws). A big sow (hog) charged one of the guys and he killed it with his chainsaw.

That was pretty good but a guy who fights off a bear in hand to hand combat wins the cake.
