Hosey was tired and hungry, walking around a forest in Greene County, Mississippi, on a day with a 110-degree heat index when he spotted the speckled reptile about 20 yards away. The snake was coiled up next to a tree stump, shaking its tail rapidly as Hosey approached.

My stepbrother was bitten by a rattler a few months ago. Thing never rattled once. Just struck.

He was life flighted to Temple, TX and spent a few days in ICU. Not fun.

It's really freaky when you can hear the rattle but can't find them. I had that happen on my grandfather's property in Pride a few years ago. I picked my feet up a bit as I drove off on the 4 wheeler

Ouch! How’s the wound site healing? All I ever hear/read about is how awful the wound sits is cause of all the necrosing tissue.

Rattlesnakes in south TX no longer warn you. I have had so many close calls. (stepped on, next to, jumped over a few, etc....)

I once jumped over a log (dumb thing to do) in the woods and heard that sound, pretty fricking scary

When I was about 12, I was in the woods searching for what I thought was a group of locusts on a tree. Looked down and realized I had been walking within 3 feet of a rattlesnake for about 20 seconds. Scared the frick outta me.

You have never had the feeling of pure terror until you hear that and can't spot it while walking through the woods. You just have to figure out what direction it's coming from and go anywhere but that way.

Not as scary when they are readily visible, but still will give you a nice dose of adrenaline.
