I felt bad for him.

He was walking into St George being a new and very real thing so that was gonna be a mountain to climb with the budget loss.

Then literally told everyone if thrive does not pass, we will have a 50 million dollar deficit and will have to lay people off and start making cuts to the city programs.

All the while, dipshits like Gravy are telling everyone that will listen to them don’t vote for that and how bad it is just because Edwards is white.

Thrive doesn’t pass and then he gets the, he did this on purpose BS from popular black figures like Gravy.

In all truth Sid Edwards was walking into a massive shitshow hurricane that had nothing to do with anything he had done and is gonna have to climb a mountain the entire time he is in office and will get very little praise for anything he is able to accomplish during his term.

An impossible task at this point.

Pretty much.

It’ll probably take another 2 years to start seeing any real impacts but by that time, the next Democrat will be lined up to frick everything up again

This will always be the problem with Baton Rouge.

He’s done nothing, which is better than the previous mayor actively destroying the city.

He should've stayed a football coach.

Well Then he shouldn’t have run. I still contend he ran thinking he wouldn’t get elected. Then when he won he had his oh shiit moment

Can’t tell you how he’s doing because I never see/hear of him doing anything. For a leader who needs public support to fund his initiatives, he’s nonexistent. Being a little more visible would help him get his message out. He’s the mayor you never see. Not a very effective strategy so far, coach.

As it is with just about every medium to large city in the south.

Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Mobile, etc. all face the same challenges.

He answers to Woody Jenkins I'm told, who put Sid forward because he was unelectable himself.

Damn how powerful is Woody? He is apparently running BTR, EBR Parish, and St George.

He’s nothing. He runs a conservative paper rag so I guess people feel the need to keep him in the circle. He’s an OK guy. Just saying I wouldn’t describe him as “powerful”.

Didn't Woody use to live on N. Foster? Large yard with a white brick/wrought iron fence.

I have no idea, but from what I'm told he put Sid forward and therefore has much influence over Sid - so however powerful that makes him.

He was a career politician for many years but for various reasons fell out of favor with many, so now he tries to influence politics by other means.
