The stupid kids go to SLU. I'm not saying anything about Delgado because the people going there are there for an associate's degree and do not expect more. They know why they go there.

As far as the dropouts going to UNO, you must not have ever been. I've been there for 3 semesters now, and the average age of my classmates is around 25. Probably 30% of them already have other degrees, but don't want to deal with the immaturity at LSU, which was my case.

The fact that UNO is 5 spots ahead of Southeastern discredits this whole list. The dropouts from LSU and SLU move back in with their parents in the New Orleans area and go to UNO or Delgado. It's been that way for years.

uno is a much better school than southeastern and its not even remotely close

The Most Underrated College In Every State

While the term "safety school" may have a negative connotation, it's unquestionably a smart decision to apply to at least one college you'll likely be accepted to.

To make the most out of this strategy, we've partnered with Niche to bring you the top schools in the country with great academics and high acceptance rates. To compile this list, Niche used its data for highest academics rankings, acceptance rates, and in-state population.

Oftentimes, these schools' strong academic programs are overshadowed by the popular perception that a college is better if it's tough to get into. These colleges challenge that myth, and are smart — and potentially safe — options for student applicants.

We've included one school from each state in our list, as well as a bonus university from Washington, DC. ...

Lousiana — University of Louisiana at Monroe

Location: Monroe, Louisiana
Undergraduates: 5,116
Acceptance Rate: 91%

That's about it. Most college courses are the same, tier to tier, honestly, and the quality of the output only has to do with the quality of the input. Simple as that.

+1

Parents are foolish to spend hard earned money to send a kid to a particular university. 2+2=4, no matter where you graduate from. No HR person worth a shite cares where you graduate from. What a company wants is this: How much money are you going to make for this company while at the same time how much is it going to cost me to pay your arse. The wider the ratio the better. Bottom line.

True up to a point, although if you have the intellectual chops to get into an Ivy or equivalent and stay there, you'd be crazy not to jump at it. Yes, people can and do succeed with degrees from any college and no college. But an elite diploma confers lifelong advantages.

Having moved out of the region- the employers up here care about only a couple of things right of school- this is for civil/structural engineering anyway-
1)Get an ABET accredited diploma
2)Pass the FE
3)Have a decent GPA >3.0
4)Have decent intern experience with references

They don't care where you went to school. This is evidenced by the fact that 2/3 of my office went to an ivy league school (Cornell, Columbia, Yale, etc.). I obviously didn't. You can say what you want to about school name, but in the end, you're the only one feeling better about where you went to school.

Yeah exactly. I never once questioned or regretted getting a degree from lsu. I barely had any bills to pay when I got finished.

Having a degree is just something to prevent your resume from being thrown in the garbage can at every employer's desk. You as a person and your qualities are far more important to any company worth working for.

Tulane
LSU
(drop off)
Louisiana Tech
ULL

Find me a program that Tulane is vastly superior to LSU in. I'm sure their humanity programs are stronger than ours but when it comes to Engineering, Business, & Law I'd say it's a wash. The faculty, curriculum, & etc between the schools are very similar but their students are paying a shite ton more. I can in confidence that Freeman (Tulane Business) is no better than Ourso.

Their brand name is pretty damn weak too. Go to Colorado, Oregon, etc and 99% have never heard of Tulane University.

eta: & I say this in respect to Tulane. Very good school & I love the place
