He got value out of using the stamp. Cancellation of the stamp after the period of it's issue usually devalues it. But the stamps easily traceable pedigree in this case, could raise it's value.

Nope. You'd then own at least $22 million worth of lube after 30 days, and that is an ASSet.

To maximize the deal for me, I would lease a large track of land a la Woodstock, pay for it to have actual amenities, hire every band that I wanted to see for play back to back for 30 days/nights and not charge for tickets.
Spend the rest on high end hookers and the best nose candy available.

I wonder if the same loophole would apply to buying a chick's "virginity".
Rent a super yacht, post up in the Mediterranean, set up a website offering $1,000,000 for a chick's virginity, get 50-100 or so to agree, fly them in on a private jet. Knock out 2-5 a day. Be sure to stock up on tadalafil.

I feel like for $68 million I could convince Jeff Tweedy and Jay Farrar to reunite Uncle Tupelo to open for Reckless Kelly, the Old 97s, and then have Chris Pratt close it with an ode to Lil Sebastian.

The greatest fireworks display of all time

I'd take the maximum amount that can be donated to charity and give it to the University of Alabama. I can't think of a bigger way to piss away some money than that. Place some bets on the Cleveland Browns. Then, I would rent out the most expensive penthouses in New York City and throw some 24/7 parties until the money runs out.

I’d pay a few million dollars to party and meet with some famous people. It be a 30 day bender, and hopefully I would network enough so that when I inherited the big bucks at the end i had some options.

I would have a few million "Spanish Town Flamingos" made and flock lake Maurepas.
BTW the '85 version was actually a remake of a 1940s film.

I’d increase Ed Orgeron’s buyout to $20M.

By that logic, he could have bought the Apollo 11 Command Module and strapped it on a Falcon Heavy, and wind up with it heading towards Mars... but most would agree he destroyed the historically significant item.
Nope. He'd still own the Apollo 11 command module. It would just be out in space and if it's worth a penny afterwards, that's an asset. It's the same way a derelict ship has an owner even thought it's crewless and drifting on the sea.

I’d buy rare stamps and mail letters.
And rent the NY Yankees.

The movie taught us that THIS is the correct answer. You can use too much postage on each letter, too, to speed up the process. The hard part might be buying that many stamps, though. It's not as if every mall has a location of "Rare Stamps 'R' Us'.

30 million during 1985 was a lot more than it is now. What would 30 million in '85 be today?

I'd pay for me and all of my buddies to hunt exotic game. And I'd rent multiple private jets to fly us to the different locations.

Probably covered in this rule.
$600,000 is just 2% of $30,000,000

The whole premise is flawed, but we overlook it because the film was so entertaining on a visceral level.
So, in today's terms, you would need to spend at a rate of just under $2.3 million per day. If you rent out a nice hotel for yourself and your "team" to work on a business plan for 30 days, but never actually output anything, you could probably do that fairly easily. If you had everyone sign contracts that expired right at the deadline, it would be difficult for the bad guys to justify there are any valuable assets left at the end, although it could be argued that you didn't get value for services, but "work on" doesn't equal "produce" on the business plan and I would lawyer my way into the jackpot (again, just shy of $700 million) with that plan.

I would buy a beautiful Ranch in SE Colorado for ~$18MM
Land in Oklahoma and Iowa for ~$3MM each
Freeman Catamaran for ~$0.5MM
Sportfisher for ~$1.5MM
rest of that $4MM would be a ridiculous party/trip for me and my friends
