when you first sit down? This would be for table service restaurant of course. Say a $25-30 per person in the party hold to ensure that you don’t skip on the bill or refuse to pay?

Definitely inspired by the Chili Dindus.

Don't care

If it can get me out of there faster when we're done, I'd probably end up appreciating it.

I wouldn’t care. Some places require a deposit that goes toward the bill to be placed when booking a reservation. I experienced this in DC recently. Didn’t bother me, it was $15 per person.

how bout frick off

doing that is literally saying to every customer"we think you are a thief so we are extorting you buy charging your credit card ahead of time until you pay for your meal

then if you dont leave what they consider a good tip im sure they will just go ahead and charge you what they think is a fair tip since they already have your card info and/or money

It wouldn't bother me if that is their rules. If someone doesn't like it they have to option not to go there.. I don't see the big deal.

With all the tech available, I’m surprised some restaurants haven’t come up with away that you can pay for table service via their app. Don’t even get the physical cards involved. Have your CC/DC attached to your profile, you sit down, they authorize it for the number of people at your table, your bill shows up there and you just authorize the amount and be done with it.

If doing so will keep people like this away from their restaurant, even better

I'd be OK with it. I'm gonna pay anyway.

If it also included an app or website where I could pay the tab and leave without waiting on the server, I’m in.

I wouldn’t mind it but it’s a terrible look from a restaurant perspective

I don't even like paying first at the McDonald's drive thru. I like having the option to just leave in case they decide to take forever.

I don’t think you understand how this works. It’d be like the incidental fee hold that some hotels use. Always thought it was weird that random delis would have you pay ahead for a $6 sammich but a $15-40 entree restaurant would just play by the honor system.

A couple breweries here are doing the order and pay through the phone thing and it’s fricking awesome.

No.

Sometimes service is absolutely shite and you need to walk out on their arse.
