How would you answer this question from your children?

We live a little insulated from culture, so excuse their ignorance of politically correct terminology (I refuse to correct them on it).
On multiple occasions watching sporting events (usually football), my 7 and 9 year olds ask me “why are there so many brown people playing football?”.
The only thing that comes to mind is “brown people run faster than us”, but that would just open me up to a whole bunch more questions that I wouldn’t want to answer, so I say “teams play the best players, so those guys must be the one’s that practice the most.”, which is really just planting seeds that will help them get ahead in math and music more than answering their question.
Should I tell my 4 year old the truth when she inevitably asks?

All the great boxers used to Irish. Irish were poor and there were not many ways out. Regular kids didn’t want to fight all the time. It’s not racial it’s just economics.

That’s a terrible answer.

I'd tell them it all depends. There are a lot of white players, too, depending on position. Point out that most linemen and QBs are white, while skill players (speed) are mostly "brown." You can also point out that "brown" families tend to place a lot more emphasis on sports like football and basketball, while white families focus more on baseball and hockey, which is why those sports feature more white players.

There are more poor white people than there are poor brown people.

Tell them:
‘diversity makes us all stronger’
‘we are all 100% equal in every way’
‘no one is any better or worse than anyone else’

I used to tell my kids, “When you go home, we do homework and study, when they go home, they play basketball.”

I don’t think most linemen are white, at least not in the SEC. Qbs are pretty mixed as well, it seems.

Have they studied slavery yet in school?

“The slave owner would breed his big black (man) to his big woman so that he could have a big black kid . . . . That’s where it all started,” Jimmy the Greek.

The short answer to this is yes, always tell your children the truth.
The truth will prepare them better for the rest of their lives where the truth may not always be what they want to hear. This is the root cause of a lot of the PC culture we live in today. People dont want to offend or be offended and often twist the truth, or, outright lie.

The black kids on my local HS team are just as unathletic as the white kids. Video games are killing sports participation.

Just tell them that back in the day brown people were more valuable if they were stronger so they were killed off if they were too small and couldn’t work. This led to the stronger more athletic people breeding and creating more stronger athletic people.
That should answer all their questions.
That should answer all their questions.

No. Should I go over selective breeding with them?

“Those people are better at football than other people. Their race doesn’t matter. Why do you ask? Do you have any thoughts on it?”
