Is your job to help or ridicule?

Send it to the Q thread to interpret; you'll get so much essay you won't know what to do with it.

You’re being paid to educate him. He obviously needs it. Do your job and tell him what the assignment entails.

Since this student clearly does not understand English comprehension or composition, you should probably respond in a manner that today's youth understands: a meme.

So all in all, I could just say, "Too bad, so sad," but if I reexplain it and consider his email a legit request for extra help, life moves on much more smoothly.
Yup. Sometimes doing the altruistic thing is better than doing the satisfying thing.

He's basically asking you to tell him what to do.... or do it for him. I'd meet him 1/3 of the way.
I'd give him a general outline of what you are looking for, and maybe even give him a few "hints".
Let the quality of his implementation of your "hints" carry the grading burden.

Give the little fricker a zero and tell him to get his head of out his arse had he not being playing with his phone throughout your classes he would know what he is "supposed to be doing for the due".

Maybe stop being a pretentious douche and do your job - help them out. At least they’re asking which is a shite ton more than a lot of other dumbasses would do.

Send a proper reply and just copy/paste the instructions for the assignment then close with "good luck, looking forward to reading your essay."

It's never a bad time to watch Caddyshack.

Tell him that there is a guy on the Politics board whose company apparently needs to start hiring some younger employees in their housekeeping department. Apparently the ladies are too old and keep getting injured and they are looking for a solution.

Send them a brochure for pipe fitting school.

Pipe fitters, welders, other people in skilled trades while maybe not masters of the English language, are generally pretty sharp, not sure this student would make the cut.
