It's strange because I've lived in Europe, Southeast Asia, and multiple U.S. states. No newspaper has ever done this before. Is the Advocate targeting me for some kind of punishment???

The Houston Chronicle does it a couple weeks a year, probably to get their circulation numbers up before an audit. It's also common here to get at least one weekly community paper thrown in the driveway.

Not a big deal, usually a neighbor will move them to the porch or something if we're out of town for a while.

I e-mailed them one time, and haven't received one since then. Maybe a coincidence.

The e-mail I sent:

Hello,

Could you please discontinue delivery of the Advocate Free Edition to my address? I am not interested in the content and would rather not have to pick it up from my driveway just to have it go to waste. My address is below.

[Address]

Why not call the BRPD and report littering in your yard?

That's very cosmopolitan of you power tool. I'm not familiar with the practice of accepting community advertisements that you are not interested in thrown in your yard.

You are lucky. I've been impressed with their general F you attitude. I've felt like the Advocate people I've talked to are really annoyed that I'm trying to figure out a way to stop getting trash in my yard. Over and over and over again.

Wait for the delivery driver to come up, stop him in front of his car and threaten to kill his whole family if he drops any more papers on your lawn. Or you can just give him 20 dollars and say there's more where this came from if you make sure no more paper gets tossed on my lawn.
lol - pull that shite with my carrier and her 2nd amendment rights will come flying out of her 9.

Yeah, the BRPD will make it a priority to get to the bottom of that matter.

Or maybe they'll set up a brake tag checkpoint in your front yard?

This has never bothered me. I'm an outdoors person though. I'm out in the yard so much I just grab it and toss it real quick.

Try this - order the newspaper on a 30-day free trial. Wait for it to be delivered for a few days. Then cancel it before the end of the trial period. That way the delivery person will get notified to not throw to your home. Worth a shot...

File an official complaint with the state AGs office. You could probably call it littering, intentional something or other of personal property, I sure the OT lawyers can come up with something.

The State AG office should get their attention pretty damn quick.

Anyone have suggestions on how to get them to stop?

Do you have a HOA? Our HOA has a no solicitors law. You can get the HOA to send the Advocate a stop and decease letter. HOA laws are laws enforceable by the local police.
