If you really want to make life slow down and live at an easier pace, and apologies if i sound like a broken record since ive mentioned this before- but you could move out of America.. into a low cost of living country, preferably near water …. It took me doing just that to realize that life doesn’t have to be a CONSTANT struggle.. working my balls off just to keep get ahead, or at times just to stay afloat.. that ain’t it.. dealing with toxic people who bring up politics within the first 30 seconds of a conversation… pissed off people everywhere you look who are miserable and have failed at life.. and if ur single- dealing with tatted-up older fat “queens” with entitled attitudes.. none of that is where it’s at- in 2025, the new American dream is to get the frick out of America, post haste .

It also bears noting that if you’re a married father of children who are still in the home- you shouldn’t expect to have much free time. I was told and have learned to appreciate that fact.

This. I’ve been drowning in unfinished tasks but it scares me how quickly the kids are growing up and I can’t slow it down.

Now if you don’t have kids and you want to manipulate the speed of time:
- alcohol speeds up time (like Click)
- weed slows down time (like Max Payne)

But if you don’t have family to be with, then free time may seem like a creeping tormentor.

What are you guys doing on the weekend after a long work week?

I think I might have found the problem. Are you so busy and stressed that you wish away the week to get to the weekend? I try to enjoy every day. Find pleasure in the early morning coffee. Look forward to aspects of work (hopefully you don't hate yours). Enjoy your hobbies or go grab a beer with your lady or a friend after work. Enjoy nature! Find time to reflect every day.

Nothing will fix all the issues of time and aging, but I've come to rely on the aforementioned ideas.

The legitimate recipe is doing something different every day. Routine greatly speeds our perception of the passing of time

I made this attempt 4 years ago. Shut down my freshwater charter service after 25 years. Picked up my little tackle business and moved to south Florida. Relaxation and the 5 o’clock cocktail.

Not so fast. Now I am about to expand the tackle business, I am working on my USCG captains license and about to start doing inshore charters.

Some people are not meant to slow down. I honestly think I am one of them. I am tired AF but I refuse to stand still.

Good luck with your quest.

If you’re making it only slow down on the weekends you’re doing it wrong.

While there are some jobs that are difficult to leave at work, those tend to be ones you are pretty much always working. Even so, you have to designate time that work doesn’t intrude, and stick to it.

Every day. Even if it’s only an hour or two. You don’t answer calls, turn off the laptop.

It’s really insane. Mardi Gras already, it was just Christmas. Easter before you can blink then summer. Football season, here comes the Holliday’s.

Holy shite, your kids are grown and gone.

I don’t get it. It’s speeding up constantly since Harambe was murdered.

I like the plan Lanier.

My goal is to move to Punta Cana and sell real estate and charter my fishing boat

The days are long, the years are short.

The reality is that the longer your situation remains the same, the more your brain skips over it. Same job every day? Brain skips it. Same routine every night? Brain skips it.
We get used to almost anything. Ever had a beach vacation and by about day 3 you are in a routine and the week disappears? Ever been working at the same company and look up and think, holy shite I’ve been here 15 years? You have to break up the repetition to make life seem longer.

I’m fortunate enough to be able to cut out early(1:00 or so) most Fridays. Weather permitting, I head out to the local “goat ranch”(Meadowlake in Keithville) and make it around the nine hole track twice in less than two hours. $17 twilight with a cart is hard to pass up.

I go by myself and just get in some good practice…work on all of my shots and clear my head from the week that was.

Home before 5:00 and usually go out to an early dinner with my wife. Try to chill the rest of the weekend and play about once a month on Sunday mornings with a couple of friends at a nicer course.

My oldest is graduating high school this year, taking him home from the hospital after he was born doesn’t feel that long ago.

I know the feeling. I still remember standing in Woman’s Hospital with my dad when my kids were born. My oldest is about to be 21 and my middle child is driving.
Dad has been gone for 15 years and that seems like yesterday.
Life moves fast.

I'm considering giving kayaking a try. Looks super peaceful. I'll pay for a few guided tours where they supply the equipment first. If I like it, I'll pick up some used equipment on CL or FB.
