How to handle new vehicle maintenance issue

What is the industry standard for handling warranty work on cars that are still in the 3yr/36k bumper to bumper warranty?
Specifically, I am asking about loaner vehicles for major repairs. My vehicle with 15k miles on it has to have major warranty replacement on the brake system. It will be out of commission for at least a couple of days. Can I expect a loaner vehicle or am I screwed?

call the service dept so they can schedule you a rental. Don't show up on the day of and expect instant rental to be ready.

Read the warranty. If the warranty doesn’t specifically say they will pay for a loaner during repair work, then threaten to sue them for loss of use of your vehicle caused by their defective product. If that doesn’t work, then rent your own car, keep the receipts, and sue the car company in small claims to recover your costs.

Your wife can’t just drive you to work?

Yeah you get a rental dude... usually have a daily mileage allowance. Had an oil leak and got a loaner with 25 miles on it a month or so ago

Congrats on the GM truck purchase.

That escalated quickly.

It depends a lot on the mark and the dealer. If it's a Lexus or a Cadillac you will probably get a loaner. A lesser car maybe, maybe not. Call the service department and ask.

Ask them when you schedule the work. I’ve been able to get loaners when the just had my car for less than a day. Should not be an issue. If you go in there threatening to sue them, they may not be as cooperative and say screw you, sue me. Just my thoughts.

Hoover Toyota found a small oil leak in my Highlander
when I took it in for tire rotation. Still under warranty. They put me in a new 4-Runner that had 16 miles on it. It took 6 days to fix my car (they had to pull the engine.) No charge for the rental. I asked the tech if the oil leak was a known problem. He said it wasn’t common, but they saw enough to know to look for it.

It’s really up to the dealership. If it’s a high end car, you get a loaner. Non luxury dealer, likely not

The industry standard is to offer alternate transportation.
It’s up to the individual dealer what that means. Having been in charge of the loaner fleet in the past, I can tell you that attractive females who bought their car from the dealership and are nice get first priority. Polite males who bought from the dealer are next in line.
Demanding assholes, bitches, and people who shopped at our store then bought elsewhere get the courtesy van, when he gets back from picking up my lunch-

I brought my car in for a warranty issue last week that took most of the day and the dealer gave me a loaner truck to run around in . This was all Star Ford and Denham Springs.
