Started shopping around at jewelers. They’re all pretty much the same.

How much wiggle room do they have? I’ve heard some will come down up to 40% but you have to Jew around with them.

Any experiences on getting the best deal?

Buy her a Cracker Jack ring. If she really loves you then she won't care

I bought a mother's day ring off a website that does all kinds of rings.

Great price. Easily half what the stores had therefore I spent the same and got twice the ring.

It's gorgeous. They called the minute it was in the mail and the exact time to expect delivery and the. Called again the minute it hit the post office.

They even put a request into the post office to hold it till I picked it up. So they called me to say it was ready for pickup. Guys name was mike. I'll find the website if your interested.

Go into it knowing that this "three months salary" bullshite was completely made up by the DeBeers advertising agency as was the entire concept of diamonds being rare. Most successful scam ever pulled on modern man is the diamond engagement ring. frickers.

Find a store that doesn't have a store in a neighboring state, mail it to an out of state address that you can access or friend - saves whatever your state sales tax is. This is applicable to just about everything.

Jewelry Exchange or Blue Nile, and if it is still too crazy or expensive for what she wants, reconsider what you are getting into.

Do the research, figure out what matters to her and know what you are getting and paying for and what it should cost.
Some girls want a smaller perfect stone, others want big, even if the grade is lower. Think about what it will look like on her hand too.

Shop blue nile for the stone. Prices are actually fairly close to wholesale. I know a few wholesalers that basically put 5 points on the BN stones. always price stone and band separate

Designer bands have much less wiggle room, especially if they have to floorplan them. Triple keystone for pricing was common but double is a fairly normal occurrence nowadays

better than the Michael Scott strategy of saving 3 years salary to buy the ring.

I used my grandmother's ring. Problem is that she wasn't dead yet. She had a weak immune system, so I'd cough in her food and stuff until it worked.
