You're assuming the average Joe wants to put the time and energy into not only counting calories, but planning within macros as well. I agree that it is beneficial especially if you are a gym person, but that is exactly the kind of thing that overwhelms people looking to lose and pushes them away.
Simple CICO isn't perfect, but you will lose doing it with no additional help.. and that appeals to the average person.

That is a fair point.
I think the best thing for people to do is lifting and macro counting. But if nothing else, at least CICO.

Learn your bsm - basal metabolic rate, consume fewer calories than that and every 4,500 calorie deficit will reward you with one less pound.

Maybe you should go back to like page 2 and look at that chart with the coca cola can.
Why?? This has nothing to do with my comments.

And I can clearly tell you don't see the relationship between liquid carbs and solid carbs.
If you had read any of the articles or my comments, you would know what I'm talking about. Anyone who has to acknowledge that there is a difference between liquid and solid carbs is not doing too well.

It's 3500 calories.

I can eat 2000 calories of pop tarts or 2000 calories of bacon and have near similar results, in terms of body composition, to about 99% accuracy
The other 1% is just a massive circle jerk - hence this thread
Again - only if you are focused on weight loss is that true. If you are focused on what really matters - inflammation, atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, alzheimers, kidney function, etc. - then your statements are outlandishly stupid.
A lifetime of bathing all of your body's cells in sugar is likely to lead to chronic (and/or terminal) conditions which destroy your quality of life and longevity.
Why should it even be marginally controversial that what you eat matters?

Way easier to just eat real food and not too much of it while also not being a couch potato. Even the most approximate version of that simple formula will lead to vastly better outcomes.

There is no point in arguing with Captain Ancedote, the Eternal Batchelor Nihilist (First and possibly last of his Name)
The stuff he posts is no better than the bro-science he loathes (because it is from the myopic perspective of aesthetics alone).

Yet when news sources come out with the same facts about climate change research, they are dismissed as "radical".
