How Strong Is Your Want For Money?

Let's say someone offered you $150k a year for the rest of your life (each year it would adjust for inflation), but in order to receive it you would have to quit your job and you couldn't make more money on the side..
Would you take the sure thing or not limit yourself to just $150k a year?
How far would you go for a $10M in cash (no taxes) lump sum? Would you kill someone for it?

What would I have to do to earn the $150k?

If I could trade my wife in for a cheaper one.

Do I get the additional nest egg I had at the first of the year or the one I have now?

As to the first question, yeah, probably. Especially if I’m allowed to passively invest it.
As to the second, I wouldn’t kill someone for $10M. I might kill someone if they deserved it. If the two happen to overlap, yay me.

I would take 150k a year for the rest of my life in a second. That is plenty of money to live how I want while not having to deal with working. I would do a lot of volunteer stuff at that point as I would have the time without the need for more money.
killing someone for 10mil cash? That depends on the person. A drug dealer that does nothing but hurt? frick yeah I could pull the trigger. A kid that was in med school while doing research to cure cancer on the side? no.

Yes. You stay where you are in life in terms of what you earned.. or what you owe. You just have to not work and be capped at $150k a year. I would have said something like $90k, but this is the OT, I'd figure most people would say they make more than $90k already..

I make a pretty good living now but I'm not particularly materialistic. I'd absolutely take 150k for life.

I am with you here. I couldn't just kill a random person. You couldn't pay me enough to do that. But if it was some sick pedophile like that Perkins guy in Livingston Parish. I'd do it for $5M.

I don't have a strong want for money, I do have a strong want for the security of not having to worry about food, shelter, and healthcare. I don't want a bigger a house, or a new car, or really any other fancy stuff. I would like to go out to eat every now and then and take a vacation or two every year, be able to play golf when it's nice outside, but other than that I don't have a stong want any non-essential things that cost money. Back to your question -- $150,000 a year is far more than I need. If the dollar amount you are offering is after tax, I could live easily on half or probably even a third of that.
