They just opened a rooftop bar on top the Pontchartrain Hotel on St. Charles with a beautiful view of downtown NOLA. I was there this past Saturday after a wedding reception.

The place is even classy enough for O-T standards.

IDK... just a suggestion. It's somewhere I'm considering doing it when that time comes.

I was getting a beer and acted like I was tying my shoe and just said "well crap while I'm down here you wanna get married". Wasn't romantic but it fit me pretty well.

Don't do it. Run like hell and never look back. I wish I would have taken that advice 25 years ago.

Ask her dad, as you said you would, then do not ask her. She will bring it up, then you say yes to her proposal.

After her Dad gives his approval you can ask him if he will help you get your testicles back.

I didn't do any grand gesture. We were going to a new year's eve party and knew she was going to be dressed up and would be seeing all her friends. I asked after we got ready. She got good pictures and was able to show off to all of her friends.

Also, it didn't set up some false perception that I was going to be that "grand gesture" kind of guy. She always says, "you used to do so much more when we were dating" and I look at her and ask her to give me an example, because she has no clue what she is talking about. Set her up for disappointment early, that's my motto.

Honestly I'd go back to wherever y'alls first date was. Using common sense, of course.

My gf knows my favorite hobby is metal detecting and I've found lots of neat stuff at the beach, old battlefields, cemeteries etc so I busted out the ol detector when we were at gulf shores and I had pre hid a ring in the ground. We went looking for it and she could tell something was up. I thought I had found it and she got all excited but it was just somebody's keys they had lost. We kept looking and all we found was about $1.75 and some old syringes. She got all mad and got her own hotel room and she dumped me pretty soon after that

That's about how I expect the "Hide it in the open ocean" scenario to work out.

I actually gave my wife her ring at a LSU/tulane game, second LSU TD. Which did not happen till late in the game. Make surprise a large part of it.
