Just finished the article. It was a great read and expresses all of Scruffy's opinions on this internet shaming deal.

It really is a problem.
With this most recent situation with the SAE kid and others, the punishment has moved so far beyond what is appropriate.
It's insane.
And like I've pointed out before, it isn't because these douches on the internet care about what they did or said. They want the validation and attention of a bunch of anonymous people.
That is a mental disorder, IMO.
Wait for one of these people to commit suicide. It'll happen soon enough.

Websites had already ransacked her Twitter feed for more horrors. (For example, “I had a sex dream about an autistic kid last night,” from 2012, was unearthed by BuzzFeed in the article “16 Tweets Justine Sacco Regrets.”)
thank god buzzfeed jumped on the bandwagon

Same here. When will this outrage culture die out?
Posted on 3/11/15 at 4:08 pm to Scruffy
it's just like the "one like can save someone's life" bullshite on Facebook. or the Kony 2012 bullshite. armchair activists who just care about making themselves look better by feigning outrage at the smallest little things.

Well just like the no whites allowed in Chicago post, this only is offensive because a white person said it

Yes - it was a well written statement that sums up what a lot of us have been struggling to articulate.

Social media is the new "roman mob" and the internet is the coliseum.
The more terrible stuff that happens to someone like this the more applause that comes from the mob. They then ultimately give an apology which is greeted with a thumbs up or thumbs down vote.

I agree. It would be like someone coming on here and referring to themself in the third person constantly, just to get attention from internet strangers. Mental disorder.

The one where the guy made a joke, under his breathe, to a friend about "dongles" at a tech conference, and a woman overheard it, took a picture of him and then blasted him on social media and got him fired REALLY pissed me off.
