I mean, how could you do it? How could you see what happens to these people and say "I'd love to do this?" At literally any interval of your day, there's any split second decision that could ruin you, imprison you, kill you, etc.. And all for what thanks? You're hated, spit on, shite on, etc. Everytime you go through the McDonald's or Burger King, there's a 50% chance you're eating a loogie. Everytime you get out of your car, there's people looking at you with disdain.

I don't condone the actions of those cops who kneeled on the dudes neck. I don't see any reason to believe they wanted to literally kill the guy, but it happened. And now they're going to be strung up as an example and I guess that's just the way it is. So who takes their place?

Quality police have to be retiring in droves. There's just no way it's worth it. Instead, you'll keep getting much dumber, much more fricked up maniacs to take their place.

Yeah but sometimes you get to put on tactical gear and forcefully shut down a barbershop.

So...worth it IMO

If I was quality police, I would be pissed at the numb nuts that keep putting my coworkers in the position to be harassed because they can't follow pretty basic fricking procedures and not act like an arse.

Far from split second and any of us would face serious consequence if operating outside of standards at our jobs and killed someone in the process

It would be better if the prosecutors would start bringing murder charges against the cops in these situations. Instead they bow down to the police/police departments and give them absolute control.

It's a severely broken system and I do feel bad for the good cops out there.

About 20 years ago I considered it. Thank God I changed my mind. Being a cop seems like the worst job I can imagine now. Too many rules. You constantly have to deal with assholes and frickups. The pay is average at best. It's just a no win situation.

How far down the rule list must one go to find "don't choke someone to death"?

That's why we have these problems. It's not a glorious job and the pay is shite. so good, qualified people don't want to do it. When some bad people have the ability to seize power, they will.

Because despite what opinionated message board junkies believe, there are thousands and thousands of good people across this country that want to make a difference. It’s that simple. Some don’t want to sit behind a computer, with the man hovering over their shoulder, living a boring life. That want to do good, save lives and make a difference in the world.

I have several friends and acquaintances who are LEO. All of them are severely pissed at these dumbasses in Minnesota, and not one of them is defending what happened in any way.

I didn't say that. You have cop issues.

Wish I had this type of foresight. Instead, 40k a year for a job that was respectable, rewarding, and exciting seemed like a great idea.

I'd imagine the vast majority of cops around the country are pissed at the Minnesota TPOS and hesitant to go to work today. Sucks a few bad apples ruin it for everyone.
