Left at 18, was 100% independent by 19. There’s no avoiding being immature and stupid at that age, and I was, but I was raised to be responsible and hard working, so I survived.

18.

I took my jukejoint car to a tombstone bar and made a stop, but only long enough to grab the handle off the top.

Lived in a shitty dorm, didn’t have a car, and there was no “etc.”. I got up at 3 to work until classtime. Made enough to make the nut. Borrowed the rest, and repaid it all, on time.

Questions?

this thread explains a lot

millennials suck so bad because their parents left the house without having a damn clue of how to take care of themselves. of course they would have no clue with kids later on down the line

When I was a kid, when I was a little boy, I always wanted to be a dinosaur, I wanted to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex more than anything in the world, I made my arms short and I roamed the back yard, I chased the neighborhood cats, I growled and I roared, everybody knew me and was afraid of me, and one day my dad said "Bobby you are 17, it’s time to throw childish things aside" and I said "OK Pop", but he didn't really say that he said that "Stop being a fricking dinosaur and get a job.

Tuition?

And don't get smart with me, boy. Your experience is far from the norm, which was my entire point.

I worked in a pharmaceutical warehouse until 25.

I paid my own bills.

Moved to Tyler, TX for college and got a roommate.

Best Buy had shite health insurance but I also had the University Clinic to fall back on if things were shite.

Pell Grants and qualified for scholarships after freshman year.

Didn't have a life for a while until 3 years ago almost

.

It can be done baw. Just gotta slum it to get to where you really wanna go.

Borrowed it for undergrad. Full ride for law school.

Maybe it isn’t and it shouldn’t be. But it made me who I am.

Moved out the summer after high school to college. Went home the following summer to work. Haven’t been back for longer than ten days since.
