Place has really gone downhill since they shut down the Boudreaux Inn.

I’ve gone to Jennings for work quite a bit. As others have said people seem really happy. Hospital is decent for such a small town. I’m not sure about schools though. If I were looking to move there for work I would consider Crowley instead and just drive to Jennings. Crowley is closer to Lafayette which opens up a lot of options. Also has some private school options that I think are good. Other option would be move to the Lebleau area just east of Lake Charles. That area has great schools and it is easy to hop on I-10 to head to Jennings in 20 minutes or so. Then you have all of the Lake Charles options for weekends and private schools if you prefer that. That being said if you have no worries about schools and you went and bought 30 acres north of Jennings somewhere I don’t think you would be disappointed. It’s Cajun country. Food is great and the people are really friendly.

that part of Louisiana feels like western Iowa.

Who cares about this when moving

What are you people doing, striking up conversations about weather at Wal-Mart?

From where? The shoney's, the "cajun" restaurant in the gas station across the street, the tacobell, or popeyes? I think they have a Mr. Gatti's pizza. momandthem's house maybe.

Some people *big shock here* actually like to interact with their neighbors and want to live in a friendly place with a community of like-minded folks that come together in times of need.

I know this is hard to fathom in the post-modern, keeping up with the Jones, technology addicted, consumerist, anti-community surveillance state we have built, but some people still like to live that way.

I spent many of summers in Jennings as my grandparents and some of my cousins lived there. I wouldn't recommend it unless you stick to the streets off of N Cutting Ave.

How many tattoos do you have? Jennings has a 14 tattoo minimum policy with extra points for neck tats.

knew a guy that lived in Lafayette but worked in Jennings, his boss gave him a small twin engine plane to commute to work in, that's all I've got

Hathaway

I went to a high school dance at Hathaway High when I was 14. I didn't know anyone there besides my cousin. Anyways, some girl that went there started talking to me and her boyfriend showed up and wanted to fight me. I had no idea she even had a boyfriend.

Two years passed and I run into him when I was in Jennings. Dude wanted to fight me AGAIN! TWO YEARS LATER!

No, we didn't fight. No Sonic in Jennings to throw down at.

Baw, have you even been to the Waffle House in Jennings?

It's between the Popeyes and a Wendy's, so you know it's a nice neighborhood.
