The Rocket has some good food, but Green's Cafe has the best burger in town.

I spend a lot of time in Jennings for work. It's not a bad town, but gets a bad reputation from the Jennings 8 murders. Stay north of the train tracks and you'll be fine. As others have said, if I were looking to move here I'd look for land around Hathaway

That's not a park. That's just a random piece of vacant land in Louisiana.

So I have to drive to Houston next month.

I now have 4 places where we have to stop along the way.

Rocket in Jennings.
Green's in Jennings.
Bucees in Baytown.
Literally any Billy's Boudin store.

I went to a funeral there a few years ago. Almost to a person, the people in attendance were on SS disability. It's one of the most dismal places I have ever been. I felt out of place for having a suit, not being obese, and walking without a mobility device. I did have a burger at the Rocket.

Do none of yall Boudin King??? Best fried catfish from Lake Charles to Baton Rouge. Hathaway or Roanoke would be my location if I was moving that way.

Lived here for 18 years. I love the people and Cajun culture. If I didn’t have family here I wouldn’t pick here however. Sending kids to private school even though it’s one of the better Louisiana public school systems.

It’s has the Southwest Louisiana Veterans home. It has a French castle on the river. Darrell’s in Jennings is better than the one in Lake Charles. You can take the Mermentau river from Jennings to Lake Arthur. The historic district has some pretty cool old homes.

That’s all I have and had to reach deep for those.

Went there bunches as a kid with my grandfather. Only time I went as an adult I thought it was average at best.

I used to shite on Jennings until I moved here. It’s fine for what it is as long as you stay north of the tracks.

OLI is a fine private school (PreK-8th) , but we probably won’t send our kids to JHS. It has decent food places including Darrell’s, Greens, Babineaux’s, Mike’s Seafood, as well as 3 Mexican places that are good enough for a random week might (Taco Tuesday specials). The Rocket Drive In is great, too. There’s some really nice older homes and the downtown area is nice. They hold events and concerts downtown with stuff for the whole family to do, so I will give the town credit for trying. We like it well enough for now.

Being right along the interstate is nice, too.

This is all you really have to say. Jennings is a pretty normal south Louisiana town north of the tracks.

Greens has the best burgers and chicken sandwich - I eat there frequently. Rocket is really good too. Darrel's always a solid choice.

Little meh golf course that has a lot of usuals that does ok for the amount of members/budget they have.

One side of the railroad tracks is better than the other if you know what I mean.
