This topic crossed my mind since i heard one of my relatives saying his daughter’s rent being $1750 and cable bill being $150. Good lord.

Don’t want this to be a good ole days thread but I remember rent was $325 split 3 ways my freshman year(mid to late 90s). It was 2BR, 1bth. My share was $100 because I had to share room. We had antenae, no cable. I recall we got college football games on abc, cbs. No fitness center, we had a basic home bench press with cement weights. No washer dryer, but shared laundry are. Central AC, Close to campus. Not a bad place. I think it was called varsity villa or village.

She must have a one bedroom in one of the brand new places.

But the only way you’ll get below a grand while staying in the area is Tigerland. Will still be ~7-800 though.

For a while I paid $50 a month near LSU, then they raised it to $125 when the management company found out that my apartment was under their management. Then I went upscale to $200. For a while I had a place in the Ghetto in Chimes Street for $100 with gas and water included.

Is your friend aware that there are services like PSVue out there?

I'm convinced anyone still paying 150 for cable is an absolute moron

$325 for a little 800 sf yellow house with a nice front porch on a corner lot across from a church playground.

I wouldn’t mind living there now.

1 bedroom/1 bath garage apartment...$300/mo
2 bed/2 bath apartment...$400/mo

That's crazy. My rent on a 3 bed/2 bath house in a very desirable area of Scottsdale is cheaper than that.

Oakbrook when it was fairly new in the mid-80s was $300/month for a 2 bedroom 2 bath. We had 3 living in it so my share was $100 plus cable and electric which was about another $50 a month on average.
