If they don't need you for 7 weeks, they don't need you at all.

frick that.

You're crazy, or your MIL is. Mine stayed for 6 weeks and it was badass. Such a big help, especially since I was traveling more for our first kid.

I only took a week. Had to take vacation.

Starting this year the men get two weeks paid paternity leave and can opt for a third week with no pay if needed.

I used 1 week of paid sick time. Which for us is separate from vacation.

Wife is currently in week 8 of her 12 weeks off. So far she has received full paychecks. I think her next 2 might be 60%.

2 days - Saturday and Sunday. Owned my own business, and birth occurred at peak of business year. Wife was pissed.

MIL is moving in to help out and so we don't have to do daycare. Her mom is great and we're very lucky.

With my first son, I only had three days. My boss was calling me while we were still at the fricking hospital asking when I was coming back. My wife had 16 weeks, but had to use a lot of vacation time.

Neither. My wife and I both didn't want that. Both of our moms were over a good bit, but screw having them stay in the house for any amount of weeks. Neither of us wanted that.

I took around a week both times. And a few more days later on before my wife went back to work.

I work at Electronic Arts. I get 10 weeks paid paternal.

My gf is taking 3 months unpaid, because we can afford to and we think its best.

On that note I guess i am a horrible sexist contributing to the "wage gap" or whatever frickery the college kids are keen to call it.

I have one due in August. Talked to my boss last week and told him I was taking 2-3 weeks.

Take the full 3, I regret not doing at least that with mine.

I'm with you. prior to me having a kid, my MiL drove me up a tree. when my daughter was born, I thanked my lucky stars every time the MiL came over.
