How much space do I need for a pool table? NSFW

So, I’ve got an extra room in my house that I’d like to make a game and TV room. I’d like to put a pool table in it and according to google I’d need a space 14’ x 18’ for a standard 4 x 8 pool table. That seems awfully large and would take up a big chunk of my room and not leave much space for the entertainment center and couch or anything else really. I’d like to also have a pac man game and a juke box as well.
For the seasoned OT ballers, how much space did you leave for your pool table?

Don’t know how much room you need but if you aren’t going to have enough room on each side to properly use a cue then don’t do it. shite drives me crazy

You need a few obstacles to increase your home field advantage when friends visit.

14x18 is your absolute MIN
That’s one cue length all the way around. Like no room for back swing if the ball is on the bumper.

Table length is 8 feet, pool cue is ~5 feet. Think about it.

Doesn’t matter. After 3 months it will be covered with laundry and assorted boxes of shite.

Looks like you better think about bumper pool - a fun game.

You need a minimum of 3-4 ft per side of the table.

I’ll let you know Wednesday. We’re having a 4x8 installed in a basement room where we have roughly 13x17 feet of space. It looks huge until you lay the PT demsions out on the floor. That’s a big piece of furniture.

14x18 is what you need at least. You can still have a couch in there cause your stick will be above that level. And you can put your jukebox and stuff in the corners. The cue stick wont hit them there. Think about it with a layout like this. See how you have more room in the corners?

My son got my dad's pool table and put it in what was the dining room of his home. There are some spots where you have to use a short stick, but they have a blast playing and dad would have loved the fact he has it.
But when you put a pool table in a room, that's what you have.
I would go with the shuffle board table,it's fun and you can move it.
