How much should you give the church?

So basically, when you go to church, how much do you put in the envelope? I've heard from "whatever you can afford" to 20$ a week.

I give just enough to meet the threshold of my kid getting discounted tuition at the school. LOL

They pass around the tray for poors, old people, and kids. The real money is collected behind the scenes and via bank drafts.

Bible says 10% but I'm pretty sure they didn't have taxes back then, so that's where it gets confusing.
