How much quieter will life be once electric vehicles take over?

Sitting outside at my in-laws, and they’re 1/4 mile from a busy state highway intersection. The sound of vehicles is constant—they don’t even notice it after 60+ years here, but it’s annoying to this old farm boy who lives out in the woods.
Anyway, I’m sitting out here thinking that the advent of all-electric cars ought to quiet down our roadways, right? Obviously it won’t happen overnight, but if GM and others stick to their 2035 pledge, it seems like we’d be dealing with a lot less ambient roadway noise in a couple of decades.
I’m sure my fellow baws in deep LP will hold on to their Harleys, V8s, and glass packs or at least figure out a way to make EVs louder, but I’m okay with less roadway noise overall.

Doubt we get there by 2035, but I try to never live within 2 miles of an interstate. I grew up next to a busy highway, and that was enough for me.

I already have all electric lawn equipment.
It changed my life!

Will make walking on the side of roads terrifying.

We will blast recorded sounds of us rolling coal.

Obvious answer is obvious.
I don't usually notice it much unless it is really quiet but I for the last few months I have been visiting a relative in a nursing home and we have to meet outside. Where we sit is about 200ft from the road and it became clear how many obnoxiously loud vehicles there are on the road. It is a constant stop and go for our conversations since it was near impossible to talk over some of them. I will admit to having been an offender in my younger days.

If we can eliminate a few F-250 “Low IQ” editions....I can get behind it. Your truck doesn’t sound good. It just sounds ridiculous and cheap.

I thought most of the sound was the tires moving across the pavement. I know some is exhaust noise, but not most of what you hear.

I live near a fairly busy highway and not only has the amount of traffic increased but the volume of some of those obnoxiously loud vehicles has increased as well.

Love when my pipes rattle as the truck starts up

I live in the country. All I hear right now are two kids screaming and my neighbor with his 20v Dewalt angle grinder working on his barbque pit

I am extremely inattentive sometimes and I can't tell if my car is running when I park so I end up turning it on and off again. "Cranking" doesn't sound right for pushing a button.

Would be even quieter if we did away with vehicles altogether

True baws will throw an e-catback or some straights on the electric truck and call it a day.

That is a very under rated pro to electric vehicles.
Rednecks around here will just double down on mudders to get the decibels back up, though.

Some municipalities have banned gas-powered leaf blowers because they couldn’t hear themselves think because of yard crews working with loud commercial blowers.
