Some states you only have to pay a one-time fee for a trailer license plate

AZ you pay yearly car registration. It's based on value of your vehicle. Mine was around $300 this year. Was like $600 when I first got my Jeep.

But you don't have to deal with inspection stickers or anything like that. Just have to do emissions testing every other year once your vehicle is 5 years old or older.

The sticker is like $20.

I pay about $200 for 2 cars in Texas. That's for inspection, emissions testing, and registration for one year.

NC is annual property tax and you need an annual inspection. More than just emissions, they check your lights, tire tread, and all sorts of other stuff.

$375 ish for my two years old Jeep Grand Cherokee

The crappy part is that for some reason I can never do it online. I always get a weird issue and have to go in. And the offices here are terrible. Not even “pull a number”. Just stand in a line that often goes out the door

Then of course, even though people have been standing there for 90 minutes doing nothing, they don’t have the right paperwork filled, left something in their car, etc.

Emissions testing is only $20 every other year once your car is 5 years old or older and only takes a couple minutes to do. They aren't looking at anything on your vehicle except stuff concerning emissions.

If you don't need emissions testing on your vehicle you just pay it online and they mail the sticker to put on your license plate.

Also...your driver's license doesn't expire until you are 65 so you never have to worry about paying renewal fees every so many years. Just have to come in at least once every 12 years to update your photo. So basically you just have to physically go and wait in line at the MVD once every 12 years.

Colorado is the same way 2% of vehicles worth every year.

Here in Tennessee it is about $32 a year (in my county).

You saved $20 but paid $300 for a year? That doesn't sound like a bargain...

I plan on keeping my Jeep as long as possible so that amount will get cheaper every year.

I figure AZDOT has to get their money from somewhere since there are no toll roads here and you can have a license for almost 50 years and not pay any renewal fees.
