Was in grad school working two jobs and my fairly new wife was working full time. We actually had some money saved and had enough to pay the bills, but it was tight.

Not much. I just graduated, was serving and bartending with a ton of bills. But I was very frugal back then, so I was able to manage. I wish I could be a bit more frugal nowadays.

At 25, absolutely nothing. Was a couple of years out of the USMC working as a charter pilot & flight instructor trying to build time and add ratings. Almost everything I earned went into increasing the credentials & chasing the ladies :-) No regrets, I would not trade those years for anything.

I was barely making it, extremely sad, self loathing, and angry at the world. Half a year ago I cleaned up my FB, and I removing a bunch of posts, and I was kind of disgusted with all the angsty dumb shite I posted. I was not a man yet.

In my house it was 18. I could eat free and had a roof over my head for free but anything else was on me.
What a dumbass. Your parents should’ve beat you more while they were letting you live rent free.

had a decent job at a plant but was partying hard living paycheck to paycheck. stayed with 1k-4k in my account probably from 22-28, had a 401k early though at 23. i was the guy at the bar that bought everybodys drinks on payday and saved nothing, didnt even have a savings account. however, i had no debt, never fricked around with credit cards. at 29 i landed a career that more than doubled my income, was able to save enough within 6 months to buy a house and started living more frugally putting everything i can into savings and investing. strange that the more i make the less i want to spend lol. been driving the same hunk of junk for 9 years now because i dont want a note. took my longer than most to figure it out but i finally did

Thats the key to saving.
Living under your means.
Ive always driven hondas (i have a 2007 honda accord now). I try to pay cash, but when i cant i pay it off asap.
My house payment today is under $1200 (home, taxes, and insurance). My apartment when i got married at 23 was more than that two decades ago.
I used to splurge on booze (cheaper to drink at home than at bars). Now with 4 kids, i dont even feel the need for that. Everything that doesnt support the kids goes to saving.
