I haven't had a car payment since 2002. Can't imagine ever having one again. But I'm not a big car/truck person, it's simply a means to an end for me. If I could walk, ride a bike, or take public transportation everywhere I needed to go I would be completely happy not owning an automobile. Not preaching - I know people love their cars, we all have our different interests.

We had 2 car payments at once. Never again. Sold both of those and bought mine with the cash. Financed my wife's vehicle over 5 years. I think the rate is 1.9% APR. I'm paying maybe $10 a month in interest. No reason not to finance.

$627 for 2017 Tacoma SR5 DCLB. I think it's a 60 month loan, but can't remember. Work pays for it though, so that's nice.

In 2003 I paid $10,900 for a 1999 Ford F-150 with 60K miles on it. 14 years later I sold it to my neighbor for $1,500, it had 302K miles on it. He is still driving it today. Keep the oil changed in that Toyota and don't rag it out, and it will last forever.

I have a car and a 1/2 ton paid off. The small business I own needed to spend some money last year for tax purposes so I pay $620 for a 3/4 ton Silverado High Country.

How the living frick did you get your note so low?

2012 F150 KR.
Note was close to $750/month.
Got tired of it after a while and paid it off with cash when we landed on some money.

I just had to trade my 2010 Silverado in to get something a little more reliable. It was a beat up POS, but it still ran. Now I have a note of almost 500 a month and I just hit 50k miles and my AC goes out in my new(er) truck. My work pays me truck rent on mine though. So I actually just have the insurance on it.

It is still technically a wealth destroyer. Income doesn't determine the nature of a depreciating asset, however, someone making that much can absorb the hit.

Do what you want to do based on that. Not what you were raised to do or what the idiots on this site do.
