I want to buy an old house but that stuff scares me

It would be a lot worse if we didn't insulate the floors and attic

we have also insulated a few rooms as we have remodeled

it didn't have any insulation anywhere when we bought the house

what age is your house? I love old houses but the no insulation can be an issue. My nanny had one built in the 1890s. Was not insulated until the 3rd remodel.

Is it a raised house?

Old raised houses were built without insulation because they didnt have ac back in the day and the walls were designed to let the air flow from the crawl space up through the walls

Why do you ALWAYS start these threads. We get it. You're a gigantic sociopath who loves to keep his house warm as frick. Don't need to tell us twice.

It's interesting to look at the usage history, though. Going back all the way to March, when I started working from home, every day is pretty much the same usage, except Sunday. Sunday's always about 10% higher usage than the other days.

It took me a bit to figure it out, but it's because I do laundry on Sundays. Four or five hours of the dryer running does the trick.

Oh, that's a nice subtle brag right there.

$480 and that’s good for June/July.

Mine is around $80, but no women in the house right now. They like the house to be a damn ice box.

We used to turn ours up to 75-76 when we left. Once we were all home all day, I just left it at 71 all the time. I didn't notice any difference in our bill so I just stopped adjusting it.

$146 down from low $200’s with more use and keeping ac at 74 during the day and 69 at night. Had windows tinted and sunscreens put up on the west facing patio. Huge difference
