Spend a lot, save a lot, borrow little: want for nothing.

While looking for that GIF I found

My Gif shopping is a lot like my shopping habits in Home Depot or Academy. Go in for one thing, find some other cool thing I have to get.

Youngins- don’t get married. Just stick with hookers it’s much cheaper

The problem is not with marriage. It’s WHO you marry.

Do not marry a woman who has never worked an actual job to pay all her expenses.

A person can’t understand why $44 is stupid to pay for a sponge unless you have a “calculator” in your head for how many hours of work it takes to earn the $44 after taxes.

You don’t ever marry a girl who was on daddy’s credit cards through college and then hops on yours.

Now that we have our accounts combined we have this rule that if you want to spend over $100 on discretionary shite it needs to be discussed. This is the first time either of us have combined accounts and it’s not going well on that front- mostly bc I haven’t had a reason to spend 100 on anything and she has something everyday. Welcome to married life I guess.

My wife and I just got married as well. We opened a joint account for our shared bills. Mortgage, utilities, etc... We each put $1,500/month in the joint account and each put $800/month in savings account. We both still have our own checking accounts. I don’t want to be pissed if she buys a $44 sponge or her to be pisssd if I buy something I want. We’ve only been married for 5 months, but so far it’s worked.

We do something similar. We both put our checks in the joint account, pay all the bills from there, transfer money from there to the savings, then transfer money to each of our 'own' accounts that we can spend on whatever we want.

To the Op's question. It really depends on what you consider discretionary, but somewhere between 1k-2k.
