I hear baws say this all the time. How much are we talking here? Cause I know most of these fools don't make more than 80k a year.

Avg mean income per family in the US is $87K per household.

Double that to $174K per household.

So, $174K.

Not necessarily true. That is 100% dependent on where you live.

I mean, that's not terrible, especially for someone in their 20's. You can do pretty much what you want with that.

What defines making good money? Savings, possessions, ability to travel? I make anywhere from 130k to 140k a year and while I have a nice 401k I still have to sacrifice things I'd like. Living is expensive. I'd say good money where you can travel at will and enjoy things you wish to have would be closer to 300 to 400k. Of course anything can be downsized to accommodate other needs, but that amount seems to take a lot of the worries away.

Yep, once you factor in housing and bills and have money to save 20k+ a year, I say you doing good.

BLM avg shows that a guy making $43K is avg, so $80K is almost double.

right

apparently making double the average is not "good money" considering the downvotes

This.

It all depends on how comfortable you are with your lifestyle.

Bitch please. I’m paying $20k a year in school tuition for my brats.

Yeah I guess I could live on $80k a year if I cut way back on my retirement investing and dining out/entertainment budget. Then I’m not enjoying life all that much though.

It really depends on your age and location and job type.

Yeah location is one of the main things due to housing cost.
I think too many people that struggle do so because they live in bigger houses than they really need to.

that's your choice. you can always live somewhere with public schools that are better than the money you are throwing away at private school

I made $25K in 1981 and thought I was rich.

Had the Trans-AM and the Members Only jacket and had to beat the babes off with a stick.
