A guy I met at a wedding worked at JW , got in the gas business and now has an 18 million dollar house in River Oaks Houston. I looked up how much his house was appraised for.

All that I know is that Charles Landry (prominent zoning attorney in BR, formerly of JW) drives a Mazerati. Extrapolate from that what you will.

In the end you're a salesman. Start building your network now. The vast majority of partners I've met at large law firms are very affable.
As stated the road to partnership is revenue not how smart you are (they'll be a team on the bench for this).
The attorney's I've seen fail lacked the ability to sell.

If you are a lawyer in Louisiana Personal Injury is the rainmaker.

My uncle, who just passed, was a partner at Jones Walker for decades after his stint in the Air Force (he was in his 80's).
He did very well for himself. Had a house in Beaver Creek, Highlands NC, and Old Metarie.
But he worked his fricking TAIL off when he was younger.

Before my disagreement with one of the main principals at Phelps Dunbar, I was making $87,523.00 annually or $3,366.26 bi-weekly, before any voluntarily deductions or taxes.
Edit.
I am not an attorney. I was working in the mail room and helped deliver subpoenas and any other work that others did not want to do.

No need to be a dick. He’s just looking for info.

Would anyone know how much partners make or can make at these firms? I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Those are obviously large, multi-city firms. I'm just ballparking it, of course, but a partner at either of these is going to be expected to bill 2200 to 2500 hours per year, and the rate is going to be anywhere from $275 to $400 depending on the client. So, purely as an example, a mid-level partner will have receipts between:
$600k to $1 million
Now, rule of thumb - salary is going to be roughly 1/3 of receipts - so that partner should be salaried out between $200k and $333k - maybe shading down, because they can always fix the discrepancy with the bonuses. Now - this isn't for new/junior partners.
The bonus structure will often be associated with longevity and other factors (bringing new business, typically). Keeping in mind that gross receipts, reduced by taxes, are typically divided - 1/3 salary of associates/partners, 1/3 "overhead" and 1/3 to the profit sharing structure - A mid-level partner might expect roughly his or her salary as a bonus.
But I have no idea what the actual details of these firms - just larger firms in general operate along these broad principles.

Running a partnership gauntlet to make 300-400k as equity partner sounds like a shitty idea if you can do the same in Dallas or Houston or wherever for double that.
Ya, Texas bills out the associates at close to what the partners bill in NO. Of course the firms are bigger here as well etc.

Not 100% sure about JW (though I doubt it's much different), but PD would give you a nice salary to start $90k+. But after that the raises are small until you either make partner or basically get banished to of counsel and locked in to a good salary, but certainly not the huge money I think you are expecting. There have been MORE than a few people PD grinds up in their younger years only to refuse to make them partner in years 8, 9, 10, etc. It's nowhere close to a given that you will become a partner just because you have been there for a while. You need to bring something to the table...(i.e. clients).
Serious question. Are you only limiting your options to BigLaw? You can do well there, but it is a BIG grind and you are just a cog in wheel. Partner at Phelps Dunbar or Jones Walker isn't as glamorous as it might seem in law school. There's nothing wrong with working there. They are great firms. But I wouldn't limit myself to just "BigLaw"
