A little over the $5k retaining fee for some bougie lawyer I met with once. I think he paid one a few hundred for document review. Clean 50/50 split of everything except we each kept our own retirement accounts. No time in court except for me to get final signatures in the judge's office. He even gave me his personal number for if I need anything further to bypass attorneys.

Easy.

More people should get amicable divorces.

I went through it 15 years ago but that B was bat$hit crazy and wouldn’t work. I gave her the house, car, savings, half my pension, and half a 401k. I essentially started over financially but it was best decision I’ve ever made. I now have a stripper body count well over 50 and I’m confident only half were “ladies of the night”. It’s been blissful with a simple relationship of wam, bam, thank you ma’am! Im back to watching football and eating chicken wings without having to do the whole date thing. Strippers are the best!! Shout out to my favorite talented dancer double D Debbie!!! Much love triple D!!!

House was already in my name, at the time the Stock market was down so my net gain was about on par with her retirement, she was only entitled to half of principal paid while married on the house. At first she was skeptical, until i provided the documentation. She did get some furniture, but it beats not having to fight on the weekly

I’ve done a divorce for $250 plus court costs. That’s just the divorce now.

My attorney was $5,000, but I was divorced in two months because I didn't fight anything. I wanted out so bad, I didn't care what it cost me. I literally left the house with nothing more than I could fit in my pickup. The other cost was 50% of all assets acquired while we were married, which was 50% of everything "I" had. I gave more just to be divorced quickly. Took her back to court 18 months later and was awarded custody of our two boys. I had to document everything to build a case against her. The attorney fees that time around were $7,500 to $10,000; I can't remember. That was 2019.

I think gay men have the lowest divorce rate, so you're probably good

I also occasionally have to remind her I’ve paid and am paying a lot of money not to have to deal with her bullshite.

I bet that feels pretty good.

Never really added it up. I went from not having much money to being broke as shite for a few years.

So whatever that figure was.

So far, I'm about $5,000 in, since January of 2024. That's only to my attorney.
I figure I'm still paying bills to the tune of about $1100.00 per month for her car, insurance, and family wireless plan.

We haven't touched my retirements, yet. That's going to get to $30,000 pretty quickly.

$40k lawyers
$150k fair division of assets
$100k stolen division of assets
$250k lost future savings by refi and losing my 2% interest rate

Over half a million I figure for a middle class middle age guy.

For no good reason.

Devestating!
