Seems after doing a little research the average American household (that carries debt) stands at $15,706.

Does debt mean you pay your cards off in full every month?

Less than that. Only reason I have any is my recent honeymoon and that's on an interest free card that got me a ton of miles

ETA:
About 5k interest free

Zero.

Unless some major emergency expense comes up, I just use my credit card for everything so I get the points and pay it off each month.

Yes. Treat it like a debit card but ya get cash back/points/rewards.

When I was young a stupid I ran up my CC debt and it took me years to pay it down. I spent my 20's running it up, my 30's paying it down, and now I'm in my 40's and have learned my lesson well. I'm proud to say now though I do not carry any CC debt. I have a CC that I use for mostly business expenses. But I turn in my receipts, get reimbursed, and use that money to pay it back down to 0 each month.

I think the statistics only include those that carry a standing balance.

I'm not included in that statistic. Credit Card debt is trashy.
