I went to every 3 hr dance recital. My daughter was normally in the matinee and the evening performance, so 6 hours was the norm. I attended both because I enjoyed experiencing and sharing these events with my daughter.

This will be my first one. Trying to see if any of the vets here can pass along any tips to pass the time. Hoping I can get out of there in time for the CWS games today

Im a grand baw and our granddaughters recital was two weeks ago. Went to dress rehearsal the night before on a Friday, profit. She's taking to many classes. Tap, jazz and ballet. She was in 7 dances. I liked it when she had a few and then we bolted after that. Now its 3.5hrs.

Not in NOLA, but I was in BR yesterday for recital practice and will be at the recital tomorrow. Looks like it's shaping up to be a 4hr show.

Our recital venue sold cocktails, beer, wine, snacks, etc. That’s a big plus.

Also I typically go out to the lobby in between my girls dance routines (number 3 and 37 this year). Four year old son is way too antsy and squirmy to stay seated that long. That’s almost 2 hours in between performances.

The last one I had to attend was three or 4 years ago. Half the people there would get up and leave after their kids' performances. Really pissed me off people dragging arse out during other kids' numbers. Incredibly rude.

not me

But my daughter is 2, and I will start her at a gymnastics place later this summer.

But if she wanted to dance, then of course I’d be there

Go pee when the serious dancers come on, unless you appreciate that stuff.

The little kids are pretty hilarious.

The one I went to last night had beer and wine and nachos.

Tons of milfs running around so the scenery is usually really nice.

Nope.
Was drug to way to many of my sisters as a kid. Will never go to one ever again. F’n bullshite no matter how cute your little angel is. It’s all to glorify the damn dance teacher.

My dad did not come to my gymnastics competitions when I was 11-17, and that was ok. One of the most poignant moments was when he encouraged me to go to the Regional competition when I had suffered a bad fall and was too scared. His support in that moment meant more than him sitting through any gym meet.
