At least once, I'm sure, but I generally stop when I want, for whatever reason.

not worry about time.
Five minutes in the hotel room is better than five more minutes on the road dodging left lane campers, of which you probably are one.
Stretching your legs turns a five hour drive into a seven and a half hour drive. Or is it five hours that it takes you to get from Baton Rouge to Lake Charles?

Zero. Riding with you would make me crazy.
Why?
What's so bad about taking it slow? Wherever you're going isn't going to up and walk away. It'll be there when you get there.

Solo? Probably zero.
With my family? However many times it takes to keep the peace

Once if by myself.
At least 3 times if my family is with me.
I do agree that stopping to fill up with gas and stretch your legs is an underrated pleasure... Depending of course upon where you actually stop.

Depends, kids/baby or no kids/baby?
Posted on 6/6/25 at 8:16 am to Odysseus32
Depends on what there is to stop for and the time but generally I agree it’s good to stop along the way for whatever.

My goal for any drive, regardless of duration, is the least amount of stops possible. Once I crank up the car, the plan is to get from point A to point B as efficiently as I can, unless it is a drive specifically taken to see things (like vacationing in California and taking a drive up the PCH, etc).
So, for just me: my hope would be none for 5 hours. If with family, my hope is none but one would be fine.

Stop and fill up on the way out and grab snacks. will most likely stop half way or so for lunch and walk around/stretch it out. 50/50 on a second stop if my wife is with me.

If I leave the house with a full tank, I'm not stopping until I need gas and if it's a long drive (700+ miles) I only stop to eat once about 1/2 way through or if I have to use a restroom.
Most times if needing a restroom break, I'll stop at a hwy. rest stop for a quick in and out and back on the road.
I've taken many long trips on my motorcycles over the years and at best I get around 175-200 miles per tank of gas. Unless I have to use a restroom, I just fill up at the pump and continue on my ride. My average day's ride when on a road trip is between 650-750 miles when heading to the Rockies and a bit shorter if heading to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Smokies.
