I think I’ve only ever gone to 12 or so, hit 275 x 8 this week though after a couple months working on strength

Now? Probably 2 or 3 times. At my peak? Maybe 10? I was never really that great at benching, as I'm stout but have longer arms.

I'm 175 lbs so it's never been easy to bench 225. I did 4 reps while taking creatine a couple of years ago. I'm probably average strength at best for my size.

I'll usually get a spotter if going for 225, although that adrenaline rush without one can really help (would never try that if someone wasn't within a few feet away).

I knew a guy who was a HS football coach and liked to work out in the morning before school. One morning he was benching and got pinned. He had to wait for somebody to come in and find him Fortunately the only thing hurt was his pride, but he learned his lesson.

I try not to max out when I lift.

Firas Zirhabi, head trainer for Georges St. Pierre, expanded on this statement quite well on Joe Rogan's podcast. Said how doing the max effort training sessions is worse than a solid, focused workout that doesn't tax you out completely and leaves you too sore to do consistent training due to a longer needed repair/recovery time. It makes sense, more time to actually train is better than blasting yourself to failure. I have tweaked my training to test it, and it has been a positive response.

Haven't maxed in bench in a few years. My left shoulder is fricked so at the bottom of the press it feels like something is tearing. Only do board presses now

I don't push past 6 often. Probably in the 8-10 range.

Who can lift 600 pounds? Tim Hill, a friend of mine now RIP, did bench 600. Fact. He would have been mid 50s today.

545, never got to 600. It actually was scary holding that much weight up.

I warm up with 225. Usually do about 15 of them.

Idk.

25-30x

Could be less. Could be a lot more.

I do pushups every morning.

In college, maybe 3 times, but at 157 that's fairly impressive.

Currently, I can't. Haven't strength trained in awhile but am getting back into it so my goal would be to get it once again some day.
