Yep. I think if the current climate continues it will cause more people to silo themselves. I've got nothing against people that aren't like me but I also disagree that I'm the boogeyman because I'm a 40s white male.

Prior to the internet age, the adage was to not discuss politics or religion in diverse company. Looking back this seems to be a great idea

Probably so. I tend to avoid politics at work. I only discuss them on TD and with my wife, family and friends.
I even avoid them with my older sister because she's the typical Austin prog. I love her and don't want to get into an argument.
I pissed her off pretty bad trolling when she took my then 9-10 yr old niece to the woman's march after the election

That's actually kind of sad, and also completely not enforced equally. It's the privilege that dare not speak its name.
We have basically become a society where liberal tech and media elites don't think some races can handle the same standards, criticism, and having differences in opinions like other races are expected to handle, and to even point this out gets the ban hammer from the outrage and cancel culture who have helped created this racism.
All while zero fracks given about black lives taken since George's rather by protests or riots or just the much more prevalent black on black crime that happens daily. It's a shame they give so much power to white people by expecting more from them than they expect from other blacks.

You can, but it's still smart to avoid it. Why risk pissing off the other half of this country either way?
Also, to be fair, the people who are fired are NOT typically posting rationally nor civilly.

I work for a major company and Diversity and Inclusion is huge and yes, we've gotten many emails and had the talks over the past week.
I don't mind it all that much, but I've kind of gotten used to it over the years. Overall the D&I program is not a bad thing.
The dumb me of 20 years about probably would have wanted to quit my job about their reaction to the recent events.
