You can get started plants from any store. Seeds needed to be planted back in January/ February.

I always do, just a small raised garden. Live in north La, will be putting plants in the ground in 7-10 days. I always check the following week forecast prior to doing it though

Agreed. Working from seeds isn’t much fun anyway if you’re just starting

Depends on crop, tomatoes yes, but still plenty of time to plant from seed for beans, peas, cucumbers, MeloNo, squash, okra, etc

It's just getting to be seed planting time here. We just had frost a week ago, and I am expecting 1 more.
I just started my seedlings for my tomatoes in plastic cups, and they just popped up, will be ready to plant in the ground in a few more days.

Wife asked last night if we can plant one. May do some cucumbers for pickle making and a few other things at the house. Debating if I should do a large garden at the hunting property would be a waste though if they ever get to the point of restricting road travel

Nah, been doing it all my life.
Just wondering if something like this situation we are having, will cause some folks who have never done it, to give it a try?
Everybody use to do it.

It's nice to have stuff in the freezer, that you can grab and cook up.

We planted one for the first time last year; tomatoes, lettuce, a few varieties of peppers, and spinach. Also planted blackberries, strawberries and two plum and two peach trees.

We had no idea what the frick we were doing but we actually did pretty decent last year. Led to a ton of research on our end (plus advice from grandpa); hoping for a solid harvest this year. The fruit trees will take a few years but we planted two of each to hopefully aid in pollination.

January is a little early.

You can still start seeds today and be good to go.
