How many of you were displaced because of Katrina?

My family went to Lake Conroe north of Houston for the first couple weeks, then Dallas for 3 months. My mom and little brother were there for all that. I was at LSU at the time, so I went back to BR and also to check on our house after the first week. My dad had to stay in NO for work during the storm and the week following, then met us on the lake, and came back to the house after two weeks of relaxing.

Worked in Metairie before the storm, and couldn't get in touch with my employer for two weeks, ended up switching companies because of the storm and came back to BR. House was without power for two weeks as well, so I stayed at my parents in BR.

I went to my dad's in Lafayette.
Didn't lose my job.
Just inconvenienced for a few months. Very fortunate I had sold my house (that ended up under water) a year before and moved into an apt.

My GF (before I met her) was at a Holiday Inn in Oxford, MS for several weeks.

I moved to Florida 2 weeks before the storm hit. My old neighbors lived in a 1 bedroom apartment in BR for a year. Two adults and two children.

Took 4 months to rebuild damaged house in Mandeville. Moved into a rental in Madisonville with my in-laws, whose house was also damaged.

Miami, for nine months. My job relocated their, I went with it. A couple of months after Katrina, around Halloween, Miami got his by Hurricane Wilma. My power was out for a week. One of my Katrina refugee coworkers who also went to Miami didn't have power for a month. All the power company workers were restoring power in other states. 
People were pretty cool in Miami, but it's not my kind of town. By Christmas I was plotting my return to NOLA, and I made it back in June.

Out of the house for two weeks b/c no power-Mandeville. Pine trees.
Building was damaged, but only on the side I lease out. Pine trees.
Mandeville and Covington are extremely stupid about pine trees, I think a bunch Druids run the parish.
Thankfully, we are gradually getting rid of the these Neanderthals and we can concrete the whole parish, as God intended.

Lived with a cousin in Abbeville for 3 weeks then with a friend in Abita Springs for 3-4 months, then in a FEMA trailer on my front lawn in Slidell for 7 months till my house was rebuilt.

The kids schools flooded so we went to Kingwood, TX for a semester. I did my job from here and there without a hitch, except for the company trying to get me to relocate to TX permanently.
I had the house in mid-city livable again by January just working on it in my spare time and hiring an electrician, roofer and a few Messicans.
I think I liked Kingwood, but I was so damn busy trying to get back to NOLA I didn't really experience what it's like to live there.

I didn't like living in south florida, either. I moved back to the NOLA area after 2 years.

I graduated Brother Martin in May of 05 and spent a week at UNO IN August when Katrina hit. We had family in Houston so I stayed at my aunt's place for 6 months and went to TSU until UNO opened back up for the spring semester.
