I had a one week old Grand Cherokee stolen when it was parked on Bienville by Micks.

I go out most every weekend, I go to every Pelicans home game, and I work downtown. Nothing bad has happened to me, nor have I witnessed bad shite happening to other people.
Not downplaying the crime issue, it is real and needs to be fixed, but it's not nearly as ubiquitous as people on here like to make it out to be. Contrary to posts on here, it's pretty easy to not get shot.

I had my car stolen when I lived out there.

I have lived downtown (full-time and part-time) for over ten years, and nothing has happened to me personally. I did witness the end of an armed robbery this year. They ended up arresting the guys on the Northshore after they broke into a house there.

if it didn't happen to you, it doesn't matter.

I got hustled one time by this guy that bet me 10 that he could tell me where I got my shoes…
His Answer was on my feet. I said frick off, then several of his associates surrounded me. Gave him the $10 lol.

I tried to ask her, but she shushed my bleeding face for interrupting her phone call.

I had to untie my three neighbors after they got robbed at gunpoint on their front porch at 2:00 in the afternoon. Right next to Panola St. Cafe. Poor kids. Three yankee girls who went to Tulane. They were not in school there the next semester.

I was robbed at gunpoint in a parking garage about 7 years ago while I was in college. That was the last time I went to NOLA without carrying

I bought ten bucks worth of glow sticks from a dude named Popeye on bourbon street. They only lasted like five minutes.

Had bikes stolen from our house uptown in the 90s.
Around that same time when I was maybe 14/15, I was on Carrollton Ave waiting on the school bus when a guy parks his car in front of me and took out a newspaper and pretended to read it. When I finally realized what was happening, I got up and ran to a nearby store to call my parents and he zipped up and took off in his car. fricking sicko. Called the cops but I was young and didn't know that I should get his plate number. Plus I was totally freaked out and just trying to get away from him.

PRINT THE CUPS!!!!
We're not talking about getting shot. I know more than 10 people that have had their vehicles broken into. 2 of them were in the zoo parking lot when they had that mini outbreak in that area last year. My old neighbor in Algiers Point had 4 guys knock on her door at 3am and when she didn't answer they tried to kick in the door. Her Doberman starting losing it's shite and scared of the pieces of shite. I had it all on my ring cam. It took NOPD 6 days to show up to take the report.
I have a hard folding bed cover on my truck. I'm currently on my third one because the first 2 were destroyed by assholes using hammers trying to get into my truck bed. The city is a fricking shite show.

I dated an out of town Tulane girl that was 13 years my younger and a bi-sexual feminist with major daddy issues. Worst experience I’ve had since living in Nola by far, but the sex was elite.

Just property crime.
But when I go to certain areas I was just always with a group.
I’ve been threatened multiple times.
There’s other shite that doesn’t have to do with crime like not having power for a month or having everyone’s car on your street flood because the pumps weren’t working.

This thread will be full of anecdotal stories with no specifics.
Dumbass, what specifics are needed when there is actual data supporting how much crime their is in NOLA? Too lazy to Google a heat map and see for yourself?

A little awareness goes a long way.
Oh thank you CPT Obvious but that doesn't mean much when criminals will go anywhere to rob people at gun point. For those that CCW we have the awareness part well ahead of you anyway.

Someone is getting carjacked every other day in New Orleans.
2022 set a new record, beating the record that was set in 2021.

I had my car broken into one night in 2007 when I was living downtown and a junker stolen and recovered same day sometime in the 90's. My parents have had their cars rifled through. I also have Lakeview friends that have had their car windows busted. But no one I know has had their home broken into, been mugged, been shot, been carjacked, or any of the stuff you see posters on here so worried about in terms of visitng the city.

And on the not get shot deal.
As a male under 40, I was always at more of a risk getting shot in New Orleans than dying of covid.
And look how crazy Nola took covid.

There are plenty of good things to do there hence why it's a tourist destination
That's not a better question. It's a stupid question.
Your implication that all tourist traps are good is laughingly imbecilic.
