Looks like a fun place with my type of patrons: obese and trashy.

Used to have $.50 Jell-O shots and good fried cheese there back in the late 80’s / early 90’s. Gotten drunk off my arse there, and at the Keg across the street many a time. Makos was popular too.

The strip from 2000-2004 was a helluva place.

Shannahan's Penny Pinchers on Wednesday, Nite Caps, the Keg, the Pub.

Yep- good times

Now the strip is a ghost town. Basically the only 2 bars left are the McKinley St. Pub and Loose Caboose. Both of these places are home of the local metal scene with a little goth mixed in.

It's been around for a long time, but it used to be a Rock and Roll crowd. Not sure now. I met my wife there, I tell people she was with the girl I thought I was gonna marry (not really kidding, either)

We've been married for 33 years and counting now.

FYI, no one called it the "Boose" back in the day. Pool tables and foosball. There was a place called Nightcaps where the folks tending toward what the new owner looks like used to hang out.

it was called by a different name when I lived there but they had the best cheeseburger in town at the time, was a good little dive

ETA: it may have been called the Red Dog Saloon back then?

Think you are mixing up with another place. It's been The Loose Caboose since 1984. Before that, it was the Brass Rail.

The keg was the Keg as long as I can recall, Makos was Mother's Mantle before it was Makos. I think Shanahan's was the Swamp Fox, but that may have been Nightcaps.

I lived around the corner from ‘74 to ‘77
It was Dirty Dans before Mothers Mantle, and the Library before that.
Brass Rail was my hangout, I’ve only been once since it became the Loose Caboose.

Looks like a normal bar in this pic. The pics and ads in the OP make it look like if Reddit were a bar.

First time I went out, Senior year when I turned 18. We went to Shannahans first then ended up at the Loose Caboose. Wasn't Penny Pitchers thier thing? It has been about 20 years.

I'm 63. I have no recollection of Dirty Dan's. I graduated from High School in 1980. I remember going to the Keg, the Brass Rail, and I think there was a place called French Quarter Po Boys or something like that when I was still in high school, But my memory is fuzzy, I think that French Quarter Po Boys (or whatever it was) building was levelled before the Brass Rail became the Loose Caboose or shortly thereafter.
