“Athletic” generally means the ability to run fast over a short distance, jump high, change directions quickly and be reactive.

People considered “overweight” generally are very bad at these things.

I'm overweight and can do all those things. I play pickup soccer twice a week and am above average in skill level. There are some obese guys out there that do the same. You have no idea what you're talking about.

It is seriously the same thing over and over and over...

This is what happens when fat acceptance invades society.

The “dad bod” movement was detrimental.

Sure you can do them. But you’d be better if you lost weight (while maintaining strength and explosiveness).

I play soccer too BTW. I do this for a living.

Agreed. It's pretty obvious how insecure he is and constantly worried others are doing better than he is. Like he's angry about it too.

Not really. I said people that EXCEL at then despite being heavy are outliers and that’s why they play in the NFL. Every pro athlete is an outlier in some way.

This is what I'm arguing against. Moving the normal range torards the heavier weights is is promoting fat acceptance and fate being the new normal
I moved it up 13lbs. That's insignificant as far as health is concerned in someone 6'. For your height it would move normal up to 185. Your pic is at 180+/-. You would not be fat at 185.

I agree. I am an outlier. I was certainly very athletic and physically stronger that many people my weight but 6'0 tall. Low center of gravity stronger legs and great balance. Made me an excellent tackling machine, helps in football. Not in insurance reviews...

Again the charts are money making deals. I'd agree that i'm not normal.

No one in this thread is a pro athlete, so that's really an unnecessary comment.

Again, seems unnecessary.

I'm not trying to sound braggadocious but I have a more muscular build than the average 180lb-er. A 5'11.5" 180lb man without any muscle tone is fat.

I agree certainly overweight, but strong and can still run fast in the 40, jump because of genetics, and change direction quickly...
