Mississippi is a poor state. Low numbers look about right. Upper numbers may be off a bit. Our household income is $147k, about the 6%. No OT baller but we do well around our neck of the woods. I'm satisfied.

Single or dual income?

Dual although my wife only makes 20k/yr. I am retired military so it bumps our income up of course.
I got two downvotes on my previous post. Lol. People are so strange on this board....

This chart tells me that people at the place I work, including me, are overpaid. Only 11.3% of Louisianians make $100 to $150k? Half of them work with me I think.

Plant manager gets you north of 100k.

The plant manager at a typical refinery is making over $200K plus a healthy bonus and stock options.

There are probably 100 people in admin at a refinery making over 100K and that doesn't count the overtime slaying operators.

But 30% of Louisianians making less than 25k seems right.

that is astounding

my first job out of college paid 19K, that was 30 yrs ago.
25K is 12/hr...I find it hard to believe that 30% don’t make 12/hr per household

A whole lot of high school drop outs working part time at fast food places. Probably a lot of Walmart workers add to this number as well.

but min wage is 7.25/hr
2 ppl both making that is well over 25K

I guess the unemployed pull the numbers down but if you are measuring wages per household then to me you have to have a wage in order to be counted.

A lot of places that pay minimum wage keep hours down to keep from having to pay benefits.

also service (tipped) employees are inaccurate way to track wages if they are getting this info from W2s

In the Native villages and a specific neighborhood in Anchorage. Juneau has the highest per capita population of "millionaires" in the country.

You’d be right.

But Alaska also has slightly higher wages on average for fast food workers, custodial workers, etc., like California (for instance) does.

Additionally, each resident of Alaska gets an annual check for between $1k and $2k from the Alaska Permanent Fund, which was/is/will be funded by royalties from O&G.

So those two factors skew Alaska’s > $25k percentage downward.

Me too. But I know a ton of people from the small town I grew up in who refuse to move. Housing is cheap, or they inherited their grannies house.
