Never once worried about showering during a storm

I delay my showers 45 minutes for every lightning strike within a 10 mile radius of my house.

I try annd avoid the kitchen too lol. I remember seeing a local news story growing up about a kid getting struck while standing next to his fridge.

Here's a repost of mine from a similar thread awhile back...
Years ago, I defended a contractor who got sued over a lightning strike. The homeowner had recently had a vasectomy. During a thunderstorm, he was holding a refrigerator door handle. When the lightning struck, it went through the home's electrical system, through the fridge handles, into his body, and exited his body at the point of least resistance, which happened to be the unhealed incisions from his vasectomy. Turns out some crackheads had stolen the grounding rods from the house while it was being built.

unless the water inside the pex is purified, lightening will travel right through the hose
It would have to be deionized water. Purified drinking water will still carry a current.

My uncle got struck by lightning in his own bed.
Should not have kept the bat next to the bed when your aunt found out he had been catting around.

Remember my parents telling me not to get in the tub while it was lightning outside due to the possibility of lightning striking pipes and electrocuting you while showering
They just told you that so you'd spend less time jerkin off in the shower.

My hose is filled with darkening specifically to fight this.

A lot of older houses have copper inlet plumbing and metal sewer pipes. I’m sure a lot of older houses weren’t grounded properly, so there maybe some truth to that.
I try to get all the bath/showers done before bad weather comes in because I don’t want to kids freaking out if the power goes out when they’re in the bathroom

Did they have to tell you not to bite the bubble when you fart in the tub?

My mom was super paranoid about lightning. Her parents made the whole family sit on a roll out rubber mat when a lightning was around.

I will avoid it during thunderstorms/lightning. I know my home is grounded, but I guess it stems from childhood. My grandparents would pack up and head to the “country” (Hammond, lol) when a storm was brewing. And unplug everything.

So did y’all win? Did the inspectors for the town not get dragged into this?

I don't make a point of doing it, but I don't not shower because of weather either.

This was pre-Katrina, so the details are real hazy. There were several defendants and we represented one of them. I believe we ended up settling. Everyone who could be sued in that matter, was sued.

Not when you have pex
If you are referring to people who have metal water lines, would the electricity not also travel in the water? How would pex keep that from happening

I fill the tub when I storm is a coming. That's what they did, so I do the same.
