I live in a suburb with proximity to Nashville as you from Gonzalez to BR. We have been one of the fastest growing cities in the US for the past several years.
I would rather drive back and forth to heart of the Nashville 3 times from my suburb to vs. yours to heart of Baton Rouge during typical commute hours.
You don't have the leadership to solve the problem or the constituency to vote in proper leadership.

I hate BR.

Don't knock people for loving LA and being immersed in their heritage. Different strokes for different folks.....
I can see why someone would want to stay in South LA to enjoy loved ones, fishing, culture, etc.
Then there are those who are career-driven and find solace in other areas where their ambitions can be satiated and grow.
Remember, there are wonderful things on the coast from Grand Isle to Venice you could never find in Manhattan and vice versa.
Peace out

I planned to live in BR my whole life but life changed those plans. I enjoy visiting family and the number and quality of restaurants has improved a lot, but I'm glad I can drive away at the end of the visit.

All cities have bad traffic. For the 30 years I lived, and worked in Dallas, I had multiple routes to take to and from work. I listened to KRLD from the time I got in the shower (5:45 am) until I got to work to hear traffic reports every 10 minutes. I would change my route if they warned about a wreck. I was in outside sales, so I drove it all day, every day.
I lived in Denver for a short stint of the 80's. Traffic there then was terrible. I go visit relatives there yearly. It's still bad.
I visit relatives in Norfolk, VA yearly. From the airport to Norfolk is always really bad.
The worst traffic I've been in was Los Angeles.
Only way to get away from traffic is to move to a small town. I've retired in Ruston. The traffic here is a breeze if there's no construction. Boom! They're building new exits off the interstate on the West, and eventually the East end of town. That means years of I-20 being closed to one lane along the way. They built, and opened a shopping center at my exit street recntly, and we had a freaking tornado. Traffic is terrible every day.
In the worlds of Clayton Williams, "Just lay back, and enjoy it."
Can't do anything about it. Can't get rid of it.
Leaving for a job is a different story.

No more sitting in Baton Rouge traffic.
Know how I can tell you haven't left the state before? Also, you could move to a thousand places in LA that doesn't have traffic. In addition, I can name 100 cities in other states that have worse traffic.

Leaving LA because you don't like BR traffic

why would anyone want to live anywhere else but Roberts Cove. I love Louisiana. It has its problems but not enough to move.
