What ended up happening? I’m sorry that happened to him but can you sue someone for harm that befalls you whilst in commission of a crime (trespassing?

Sued over property dispute. Lazy judge rubber stamped his bullshite map and we lost.

Currently being sued by a guy who claims I hit him when I was hauling an oversized long load. Nevermind the fact that the damage he claims is physically impossible to have happened and the supposed medical issues also are bs. He passed an escort vehicle waving flags to warn him of the upcoming truck which was me. Have a deposition in Oct. Piece of shite scam artist

Absolutely you can. I believe there’s a story where a burglar couldn’t get out of the person’s garage and sued.

Broke a non compete and got hit for breach of fiduciary duty… settled that one with mediation.

Fired a piece of crap admin. She sued. We responded. Mediator suggested we pay her or pay our lawyer for a trial that awarded no attorney’s fees when we win—we paid her.

Wage an hour claim. Get sued. Court system so screwed up when we finally get to share our side of the story, the people who sued us realized they were suing the wrong employer.

Plenty answers that were I do not recall and I do not know.

Own businesses for long enough and people will sue you. After the last one, our attorney said… “don’t be surprised, but right now, someone is probably trying to figure out how to sue you.”

Learned that you answer an attorney’s letter with an attorney’s letter and we have moved to very aggressive answers after the above. Good times.

Why would you bail someone like this out in the first place?
you hire unskilled, laborer, workers and their propensity for bad decisions doesn’t stop with employment. For a small business you may need em more than you want to prove a point.

Wow. That just sounds insane to me. So really it would’ve been better for the homeowner to just shoot and kill them

I wish we had a more serious board on here to ask people like you (established businesspeople) more questions.

I’m not pointing fingers, I troll as much as anyone on here

Sued in small claims over 35 years ago. Neighbor claimed our dog was barking all day long. Aske 3 other neighbors if it was a problem they said no. Asked if they would go to court if needed, all said yes. So the morning I drove all of them in my van, had to take them to McDonald 1st .

We were adding on to our house at the time so when the contractor would show up the dog barked. Then stopped.

In court the judge asks the one suing us to present his evidence he pulls out a cassette recorder. Judge says " please tell me that's not what I think it is". Plays about 10 seconds of our dog barking, judge says that's enough.

Judge asks me what kind of dog it is, I tell him a Labrador. Judge says he had one & they were great with his kids. He heard enough, will render his verdict within 1 week.

3 days later notice in the mail they lost.

Is this alleged “corporation” a true corporation (with stockholders) or a limited liability company(“members” instead of “stockholders”) nonprofit corporation

Are either registered with the Secretary of State’s office? yes, i am the only agent listed

Does the company have bylaws or an operating agreement and a list of stockholders/members? no stock or shareholder since nonprofit. no by-laws listed with the sec of state, he isn't a member

How much $ did the plaintiff buy into the company for? nothing, he's never been mentioned in legal docs

Whose name is the lease in? Yours or the company’s ? companies

If the lease is in your name individually, is there a written document showing the hunting club has permission to use the property? INC is lessee, lease names lessee the corp as responsible party for everyone

One time. Won at trial and Court of Appeals. Had a friend represent me at trial since I was going to take the stand but I did all the research and motions. It was all me on appeals. Brief and argument. Also was published In the Southern Seconds.

It’s good to be a lawyer sometimes.

I was sued by a liberal, dumbass school super over a website I designed and built in an effort to have her resign/be fired.

I was even deposed with her in the room.

It didn’t work. She was terminated and she dropped the suit against me.

Once for a no-fault accident in which the other lady wouldn't settle for $3,000 (because no one was at fault on the police report) so the judge eventually dismissed it and she got nothing.

As an officer of my company I've been in on slip and falls, auto accidents, wrongful termination, and one weird fair reporting credit act lawsuits.
The overarching theme of these have been that the lawyers on both sides just drag it out as long as possible and settle.
Except, in the case of the wrongful termination, where once we provided the employee file it was dropped because he was an absolute nightmare of an employee.
In the FRCA one the lawyer for the lady actually told our lawyer he wouldn't win and we got a summary judgement. Some credit repair company apparently contracted him and once he saw everything he was like "this is BS". I actually knew him through some friends so it was funny seeing his name on the inital filing.

I own a pest control company. We do a lot of WDO (Wood Destroying Organism) inspections for people who are buying a house.

Did an inspection on a house that looked perfect. Everything had been remodeled. I did the inspection in August of '18.

At the end of Feb '19, a massive swarm of termites was inside the house and they happened to be redoing the siding at the same time. Tons of termite damage.

Obviously I looked like the bad guy here, but I cannot see behind walls, and can only report what I see at the time of the inspection. The guy who sold the house, total piece of shite, just covered up everything and married a few of the totaled wood members to new ones.

Had pretty bad anxiety for about a year as this went on, because I knew I did nothing wrong, but now I was being sued and my name was going to be mud in that neighborhood, which I did nothing to deserve.

Got me into Stoicism, which is fantastic. So much so that I was looking forward to the deposition and had a blast the whole time. Was easy to show that the seller was the shitbag in this whole story, and the seller's realtor wasn't far behind.

My insurance still had to pay out, but it was mostly just a nuisance fee, or whatever lawyers call it to make the ordeal end at the lowest cost. That pos had to buy the house back, basically and give the woman the monetary equivalent of all the money she put into it.

Long story short; Initially it sucked major balls, but in the end, I'm better off for having experienced it.
